As predicted: Despite how hard it was to leave work last week, being at home has been a wonderful blessing thus far. (This is unsurprising, given that I’m a stay-at-home mom who doesn’t have a baby yet!)
There’s been a good amount of this:
but I’ve been working my way through a daily to-do list as well.
Thank-you cards addressed and ready to go!
I’ve made an effort to get out of the house every day, even if it’s running to Whole Foods (as above) or to go to the library. I’m also resisting the urge to lounge around in gym clothes all day — I really do feel better when I put more effort into my appearance, so even if I feel a little silly blow-drying my hair just to go to the grocery store, I like how I look so much better.
One thing that’s not going so well this week? Sleep. For the last several nights I’ve woken up between two and four and can’t go back to sleep until around 6:30. Apparently this is hormonal (which means my body knows what it’s doing) but it does disorient my schedule. I am especially thankful now that I am not working and can make up the sleep later in the morning! Not having to get up and function on four hours of sleep makes my insomnia pretty manageable, so I really can’t complain.
I started another baby legwarmer at 4:30 this morning …
but I photographed these in the light of day.
I have gotten a lot of knitting done this week, which has been fun (I’m thinking about bringing the above legwarmer next time I go to the gym …). I do have one more baby hat to work on before my own baby’s arrival, and this one will be a VERY special project that I can’t wait to start.
Despite my fatigue
and my size I’ve been keeping up with workouts pretty well, too — better than I was able to my last few weeks of work, at any rate. I made the fortuitous discovery yesterday that my gym offers a second prenatal yoga class — I found out just in time to jump in the car and race across town! So as long as I don’t have a baby in my arms, I’m looking forward to being able to get in two classes per week. I am also putting in my time on the reclining bike.
Today’s plans include washing more baby clothes and making some granola. It’s glorious outside so maybe I will get Steve to take me out for frozen yogurt tonight!
